We adopted Gracie, a Newfie/Lab mix, in May 2008. She was 4 months old.
Much to our dismay, we found that not only was she quite hyper, but she was having accidents during the day and all thru the night, even in her crate. It was obvious she was in great discomfort.

After several trips to the vet, we were told she either was REALLY sick or maybe had food allergies. The vet was happy to sell us “prescription” dog food at the cost of over $60 per bag.
Things did get better, and we quickly were able to determine that this was a severe case of food allergies. Allergies to wheat, corn, soy, beef, and chicken.
We now have Grace on a good food plan. However, her ears continued to be sensitive and her eyes runny. I checked the ingredients on the treat box. Wheat, corn, soy etc, etc etc. So, we started baking our own treats to assure Gracie’s treats didn’t cause pain. Her ears and eyes are now clear, and we all feel much better.
